Frankincense (Olivano)

The mix of coloration provides a depth of aroma, the darker having the most fragrant conifer undertones. It is a very calming and grounding scent, and is said to drive away negativity. These resin tears can be burned directly on coal or, alternatively, placed in the top of a diffuser over a lit candle for a lighter scent.

If one wants to consume the frankincense internally, one should drink ‘frankincense water:’ pick the whitest colored resin tears, placing two or so in a glass, pour boiling water over, let sit overnight, swirl and drink first thing in the morning. This method is the only way to consume its most active compound, Boswellic acid, which is not volatile and therefore not contained in essential oil.
